Extended competence

In order to further improve and make the vehicle registration process more citizen-friendly, the city of Rosenheim has concluded a cooperation agreement with ten other registration authorities in Upper Bavaria. Since 06.12.2011, it has been possible for you as a customer to carry out registration procedures not only at the registration authority responsible for your place of residence or place of business, but at any registration authority within this network.

Participating registration authorities are:

  • Altötting District Office
  • Bad Tölz District Office
  • Berchtesgadener Land District Office
  • District office Fürstenfeldbruck
  • Garmisch-Partenkirchen District Office
  • Miesbach District Office
  • Munich District Office
  • Mühldorf a. Inn District Office
  • Rosenheim District Office
  • District Office Starnberg
  • Traunstein District Office
  • as well as the city of Rosenheim

The responsibility of the license plate authority remains the same. This means that a license plate is always assigned to the authority responsible for the place of residence or place of business, regardless of where the registration is carried out.

The cooperation agreement covers the following registration processes:

  • Registrations of new and used vehicles
  • Transfers with and without change of owner
  • Decommissioning
  • Re-registrations
  • Change of license plate type (e.g. allocation of an H license plate, but no allocation or change of seasonal license plates)
  • Changes of owner and technology
  • Allocation of export license plates

All other registration processes as well as applications for exemptions can currently only be processed at the relevant registration authority.

Please note that registration applications must be rejected and referred to the responsible registration authority if there are still fee arrears there. If there are vehicle tax debts, the application must be put on hold until these have been settled.

When reserving a vanity plate via the respective homepages of the registration authorities, you will be assigned a PIN number, which must be presented when registering the vehicle. This ensures that the reserved license plate is actually issued only to the holder who reserved the license plate.
