High level of security at Rosenheim railway station
Expanded video surveillance, more security personnel and intensive cooperation to ensure that Rosenheim railway station remains safe. This was agreed by Rosenheim's Lord Mayor Andreas März at a meeting with representatives of the police authorities and Deutsche Bahn at Rosenheim Town Hall. As a special guest, Andreas März welcomed the Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of the Interior, Daniela Ludwig, representing the employer of the Federal Police.
"Rosenheim railway station is part of urban life and I want people to be able to stay there safely and feel safe. We are supporting our federal and state police in this endeavour with the municipal security service that I initiated, as well as with the expansion of video surveillance at Südtiroler Platz," said Andreas März. "It is important to act preventively and at the same time to take action when necessary."
"Across Germany, we are seeing an increase in violent offences on trains and at train stations. Some railway stations are becoming crime hotspots in cities. However, this is not the case in Rosenheim. Our railway station is not a hotspot," says Daniela Ludwig. "I want the station to remain safe in the future."
Various measures have already been implemented in the past year, such as increasing the presence of the federal police and improving the lighting in the pedestrian subway from the station to Klepperstraße. The high visible presence of the police and security personnel will also be maintained this year.
"All the agencies involved are already working together extremely well. By involving youth and social work as well as street workers, we are not only focussing on controls, but also on prevention and alternative solutions around the station," continues März.
In addition to police presence, Daniela Ludwig is also focussing on technology: "DB AG and the federal police are currently using over 20 cameras for video surveillance at Rosenheim station. If the station forecourt is also equipped with video surveillance in the near future, this will increase both actual and perceived security."
The participants in the dialogue will remain in contact in order to continuously assess the security situation at Rosenheim station.
