Cultural Award for Dr Felix Steffan

The city of Rosenheim has awarded Dr Felix Steffan the 2025 Cultural Promotion Prize. Lord Mayor Andreas März honoured the prizewinner for his multifaceted work, which has left a visible mark on the city's culture.

"The award is a sign of recognition and at the same time a promise by the city to actively promote the commitment of young creative artists," said the Lord Mayor.

Dr Felix Steffan's work is characterised by scientific research and creative illustration. In 2017, he curated the in-depth exhibition "Vermacht, verfallen, verdrängt - Kunst und Nationalsozialismus" (Bequeathed, Forfeited, Repressed - Art and National Socialism) in the Städtische Galerie in the field of science and historical reappraisal, thereby drawing attention to a difficult chapter in the city's history.

His successful research work "The Periphery as Centre", which investigated the development of the art scene in Rosenheim and Chiemgau during and after the National Socialist era and was financially supported by the city, also led to the award of his doctorate.

In addition to this historical work, Dr Steffan is also a passionate illustrator and local culture enthusiast: in 2019, he presented the city of Rosenheim with the popular "Rosenheimer Wimmelbuch", which skilfully showcases the city.

The awarding of the cultural sponsorship prize is based on a unanimous decision by the city council. The prize is endowed with 2,500 euros.
