Important data for future planning: census results available for Rosenheim

63,284 inhabitants, 15,066 single households and 10,877 residential buildings. These figures for the city of Rosenheim emerge from the results of the 2022 census published today.

With a figure of just under 32,300, women slightly outnumber men with a good 31,000 city residents. Around 49,000 people have German citizenship.

"The population census provides another important building block for future urban development. In addition to the large-scale public participation as part of the integrated urban development concept, we can see in black and white how the population and housing stock are developing. On this basis, we can shape our future in line with our needs, for example, what plans for future construction projects should look like," says Mayor Andreas März.

Rosenheim, the largest proportion of the population is made up of 19 to 39-year-olds (18,000), followed by 40 to 59-year-olds (17,300). 5,100 people are between 60 and 66 years old and 11,500 are 67 or older.

"Demographic change is not stopping in Rosenheim either. Compared to the rest of Upper Bavaria, Rosenheim is not ageing quite as quickly, but we must already prepare ourselves for the demands of an older urban society and make provisions accordingly," said the Lord Mayor. "Together with our housing association GRWS and private investors, we are planning and creating senior-friendly housing. In addition, our flagship project "Socially Integrative City" enables a good and participatory life in old age and the staff at the care support center provide helpful information and answers to care questions. These services are being expanded, also in collaboration with other social institutions."

The census was conducted in 2022 and around 6,000 Rosenheim households were surveyed. Participation was mandatory for all households contacted.
