Driving licence exchange online

Citizens of Rosenheim can now apply to exchange their old driving licence around the clock and from the comfort of their own home. The exchange for a new EU driving licence is possible online at https://www.rosenheim.de/buergerservice/mobilitaet/fahrerlaubnis-fuererschein/fuehrerschein-umtausch/.

After authentication, a clearly legible scan of the ID card, the old driving licence, a current biometric photo and your own signature are required.

After the application, the old driving licence must be sent to the driving licence authority. This can be endorsed if desired and then sent back to the applicant. The application is then processed.

The new driving licence will be sent directly to the applicant's home address by the Bundesdruckerei, meaning that a visit to the authority is not usually necessary for the entire process.

As decided by the Federal Council on 15.02.2019, driving licences issued before 19.01.2013 must be exchanged for a new EU driving licence by law. The exchange does not change the scope of the driving licence.
